Tottenham Hotspur Suffer Derby Day Defeat to Chelsea
Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson Fire Blues to Victory
Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson were on target as Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in a heated London derby at Stamford Bridge. The victory keeps Chelsea in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League, while Tottenham's hopes of Champions League qualification have suffered a significant setback.
Chelsea made a bright start to the match and created the better chances in the opening exchanges. They took a deserved lead on 20 minutes when Chalobah headed home from a Hakim Ziyech free-kick. Tottenham struggled to create clear-cut chances and offered little in response.
The second half was a more even affair, but Chelsea remained the more threatening team. They doubled their lead on 65 minutes when Jackson slotted home after being played in by Mason Mount. Tottenham pushed for a late goal, but Chelsea held on to secure a valuable victory.
The result leaves Chelsea fourth in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United in third. Tottenham remain sixth, four points adrift of their rivals.
